  • A Tuesday application for physical remand was rejected.
  • Later police sought fresh custody for investigation.
  • • Pinky from Garden area, involved in ‘multiple’ cases:

A local court in Karachi on Wednesday ordered a three-day physical remand of a high-profile woman “drug peddler”, Anmol alias Pinky, in a case registered by Karachi South Police.

The police came to court a day after a request for her physical remand was rejected. The suspect had been remanded to jail previously. •

The investigating officer had listed three main grounds in the remand report to be discovery of source of supply of cocaine, discovery of her financial resources and CRO check.

The investigating officer in the case registered against Pinky on Wednesday again sought physical remand during the hearing. The DIG South said a fresh plea for physical remand has been moved before the court and details of previous cases against Anmol alias Pinky have also been collected.

As per the police, Pinky was a wanted suspect and was absconding in at least 10 cases. He was arrested from the Garden area of Karachi.

Police said weapons, cocaine and other drugs worth about Rs1.5 million were recovered from her custody and she was allegedly running a drug supply network in the port city.

Pinky’s voice note

Separately, investigators found a number of audio messages on her mobile phone. In one recording, she is heard telling contacts of a possible arrest and that her network would continue through another individual running her operations.

Hello friends! If you are listening to this message, then something has happened to me or I am no longer alive. “If something happens to me, somebody will keep calling you from this same number,” the alleged voice note has Pinky saying.

“My friend, a man who will be the contact person, will do the work. “If something happens to me, the work continues with the same number.”

SSP South dropped from inquiry

In a separate development, DIG West Irfan Baloch has replaced SSP South who has been removed from the inquiry, according to a notification.

Pinky’s court appearance on Tuesday saw a number of issues that have been referred to Irfan Baloch to look into. The inquiry will also look at alleged breaches of protocol.

As per the notification, the DIG West has been directed to submit his report within three days. Strict action would be taken against any officer or official found guilty of negligence or misconduct, Additional IG said.
